Arguing With Geeks 3

Philosophistication — The development of elaborate theoretical arguments and articulation of such in a style that involves a high degree of semantic and syntactic complexity. Usually done for rhetorical effect and/or ludic self-gratification, this is a common characteristic in the arguments of language geeks and can be considered their natural form of “geeking out”. Language geeks should be aware, however, that this behaviour is essentially antisocial outwith the company of other language geeks and will most likely be regarded with hostility even by many other types of geek (scientific, technical, genre, media franchise, etc.) as a form of pretentiousness. They should also be aware that the core of philosophistication is sophistic.

Gee Hal, doesn't this word pretty much decribe the majority of your posts? (Meant in the nicest way possible)

That's kinda the point, drxray. What's sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander, turn about is fair play, and all that. I'm bound to be softer on or blinder to my own argumentative follies, but I can do my best.
