Normal service will be resumed presently. There's some more posting on that whole function of narrative malarky. I'll also try and post some bletherings about my trip to Plzen. In the meantime, Jeff VanderMeer has this report with a (potentially mind-scarring) picture of meself resplendant in all my glory as -- as Jeff dubs it -- the Beer Messiah. You might laugh. You might cry. You might just lose yer lunch.

Out of curiosity, what are your tattoos?

The one on the left shoulder is a bison/auroch sorta design in black outline, cave-painting/tribal style.

The one on the left side of the chest is a big cat -- puma/panther/cougar type-thing -- again in black outline. It's my own design, so I'm kinda proud of that one the most. It was however quite hurty to get done on my scrawny skin'n'bone physique.

Also, there's a third one on the other shoulder, covered by the toga -- a lizard in black silhouette.

As ye can probably tell, there's a bit of a theme there -- archaic cave-art sorta malarky, different animals for different symbolic qualities. I'm thinking of getting a gazelle next, but haven't been able to find a good pic to base the design on.

That's very cool. It reminds me a little of a tattoo a friend of mine is planning: he wants to get all the small tattoo marks (I think there are fifty-something of them) found on the body of Otzi the Iceman, who died in the 3300s BCE. They might have been related to some kind of arthritis treatment, or been markers of life events or a coming-of-age ritual.

Who designed the tattoos you didn't? Is there a specific artist you worked with both times?
